A new campaign

The new BHA campaign poster

The British Humanist Association has begun yesterday a new campaign to follow up the extremely successful “Atheist Bus Campaign”, this new campaign is called the “Don’t label me” campaign and is based on the chapter in Richard Dawkins superb The God Delusion when he says how wrong it is the label children at an early age with terms like “Muslim Child”,”Christian Child”, “Jewish Child”. Children are children, and I think and believe that they should grow up free from their parents religion. I have many friends who were forced to grow up religious, of varying faiths, and they all wish that it wasn’t so. I have no problem with someone having a religion, but let that person be old enough to understand the full picture, not be indoctrinated and forced to feel feelings of guilt, inadequacy, shame or anything negative. If religion is so strong and natural..why can’t it wait until someone is adult and mature enough to understand what they are getting into ? The main reason is of course that when you’re an adult you see through lies, mistruths, allegories and deception..children don’t have those adult ‘filters’ in place yet as they come through life’s experiences and are therefore easier to be pulled into and hoodwinked by religion.

I expect to see even more religious indignation from all sides in relation to this campaign. It’s already started (see here) in religious riven Belfast..the Protestants first…but I expect the Catholics will join in soon enough with their vitriol (after all we know how much the Catholic priests in Ireland love little children !) but I think all discussion around this topic is good. This campaign is also linked to the anti faith schools initiative  that is an ongoing campaign for BHA. I for one agree whoteheartedly..the whole faith school impetus set up by Blair the Liar in the UK is wrong, divisive and not the way that we should be educating the citizens of tomorrow.

You can contribute to this worthwhile important campaign here and learn more about it here. I personally think all religions should have an “Over 18″ certificate. More images below.

Bigot of the Week

2009 November 13

Yup it’s Bigot of the Week time.

But this week is a special week…it’s BLACKMAILING Bigot of the Week

catholiccharitiesbigots

Catholic Charities Washington DC Bigots of the Week

The winners are – Catholic Charities, a part of the Catholic Church, which helps over 68,000 homeless and disadvantaged people in Washington D.C. in the grand old US of A. They don’t just do volunteer work — they get oddles of cash from the city government to do this.

But if a new bill gets passed by the city council next month which would make it illegal for groups receiving city money to discriminate against gay people, they are saying that they will be “unable to continue the social service programs“? So let’s get this right…these bigots are going to refuse to help people (the poor , the homeless, the sick etc) that they get money to help because they actively want to restrict the rights from a minority group..namely LGBT people.

Susan Gibbs, the spokespwhore for the Catholic Archdiocese of Washington, tries to defend by  the Church’s actions:

religious groups that receive city funds would be required to give same-sex couples medical benefits, open adoptions to same-sex couples and rent a church hall to a support group for lesbian couples.

So whats the problem? I see nothing wrong in treating everyone equally…oh now I get it…..  thats the problem (sarcastic tone) you lovely loving catholics don’t like same sex couples or lesbians do you…..

You can express your disgust at this blatant blackmail here

Funny thought came to mind…the Catholic Church does like some minorities….peadophiles… it has tons of them and protects tons of them by recalling them to Rome away from justice.  Just a little bit two-faced don’t you think.

I’ve noticed I’ve been bashing the catholic chrutch a lot lately…but they make it sooooo easy. I promise to start on the Muslims next week !

Undone – an update

A small update. You’ll probably all remember my post last week about the lovely Carrie “Pre-Cum” Prejean.

carrie-prejean

Dumb Bigot Carrie "I can't even storm off TV properly" Prejean

Well the silly bitch doesn’t know where to stop, the daft brainless fake boobed blonde bigot went on the Larry King show (some old guy famous in the US with silly braces) to push her terrible new book (in a very cack handed way) and she dared to say he was inappropriate for asking her about the events of last week… the blonde bimbette then decided to remove her microphone when a gay man called in..and tried to walk off…but the dumb cow couldn’t even manage to do that properly. She is a superb epitome of the stupidness of the religiously afflicted.. watch the video and laugh at her utter ineptness. If you’re going to do silly things like make masturbatory videos, and then try and promote something on TV not even a week later…don’t expect people not to ask questions about it.

Carrie “Pre-cum” Prejean you are the FAIL of the week.

Update:

It seems the lovely Carrie has made another 7 of these videos…… not the ones with Larry King…I mean the type of her indulging in the un-christian masturbatory  kind….

Holiday Destinations (aka where we won’t be going on holiday in 2010)

by petursey

When Autumn nights start drawing in, and the clocks have gone back and it gets dark earlier and earlier…we start to think of where we want to go on holiday next year..to enjoy the sun, the time off work spent together with loved ones, seeing new sights, visiting new places, trying new exciting foods and drinks, taking photographs, visiting museums and places of interest and generally relaxing and enjoying oneself.

italian-flag-640

Italia

One of my favorite places in the world to do all of the above is Italy..except I’ve just discovered that there’s one little microstate within Italy  that me and Rich and lots of other people are no longer welcome….yes you guessed it..the Vatican.

You know the place..

Totally populated by virgin celibate men wearing brightly coloured dresses, waited on hand and foot by frigid celibate virgin women dressed in black, the men dripping in jewels and wearing prada slippers, wonderful artworks and paintings full of nudity, lots of protected kiddyfiddlers escaping from justice and presided over by a the Palpatine-lool-alike Benedict himself. vatican

No entry for anyone different……

The excellent Blaghag and others have blogged on what was said by Bishop Janusz Kaleta, the Apostolic Administrator of Atyrau, and I quote;

The church teachings are from the Bible. If we change this teaching, we will not be the Catholic Church. Don’t expect the Catholic church to change these issues, because it is our identity.” When asked if the Vatican is open to dialogue about welcoming such homosexual groups of tourists in the future, Bishop Kaleta responded that “such demonstrations are just not ethical.”

The twisted dress wearing baby eating Bishop then went on;

“I consider if someone is homosexual, it is a provocation and an abuse of this place. Try to go to a mosque if you are not Muslim. It is abuse of our buildings and our religion because the church interprets our religion that it is not ethical. We expect respect of our church as we expect to respect that a person does not have to belong to the Catholic Church. If you have different ideas, go to a different location.”

Right lets get some fact’s in order here .. why is it a provocation ? How is an “abuse” if a gay person sets foot in the Vatican ? Why is it disrespectful for a person who just happens to have been born with an inclination for the same sex to set foot in the Vatican? Do they expect someone to wake up and go “I’m suddenly straight, whoop de whoop, fucking hell I can now visit the Vatican”. What right does he have as a minority himself (you know as a virgin celibate transvestite with mates who are kiddy fiddlers..whoops just put myself off my lunch there) to tell a group of people that they are not allowed to visit a certain place just because of a load of horseshit book of fairy tales written by bronze age goat shaggers ??

The Catholic Church whinges and whines that it is persecuted and maligned. What the fuck do they expect ? Praise and worship …oh shit…yes thats exactly what they expect..and money too.

Swiss_Guard

Love the uniform sweetie...just watch out and don't let them gays in !

It’s time the Catholic Church was seen to be exactly what it is, out of touch, out of time and out of ideas. Change is good, all people are good, black, white and  in-between, man, woman and in-between, gay , straight and  in-between. The Catholic Church is not a force for good in the world at all..it’s a force of pure unadulterated evil spite riden hatred; that prays on the weak minded and controls them and everything they do. They are responsible for murdering millions in their history and at the moment are sentencing millions in Africa , through their condom ban crap, to a slow and painful death and countless children to orphanhood.

It’s time they lost the almost automatic respect they seem to get, it’s time they were thrown out of the UN (what the hell is a religious organisation being classed as a nation for??) and that the putrid edifice of the Vatican torn down…. I for one don’t want to go there anyway.

Bigotry ..continued

Bigot Award

Just an update on some more bigotry..

You remember from a few weeks ago the vile bigot Jan Moir ? How could we not forget her insipid dirty insinuations regarding gay people when she wrote her now notorious article on the recently deceased Stephen Gately when he wasn’t even in the ground.

Well Stonewall, an equality lobbying organisation in the UK has had their Bigot of the Year Award yesterday, and after consulting with me (and few thousand other people) they gave the award to Jan. Unfortunately Jan was unavailable for comment as she’s not left her house for the past four weeks as her gay hairdresser “accidentally” shaved off all her hair and eyebrows, and her lesbian bikini and leg waxer used sulphuric acid instead. So poor Jan, wherever you are lurking enjoy your award, we hope your hair doesn’t grow back and that the skin grafts rot :-) , and enjoy this award.

More about Stonewall here and the awards ceremony here.

Bigot of the Week

2009 November 6
Maine - 53% Bigoted

Maine - Populated by 53% of Bigots

First of all a definition…

SHAME (n.)”

O.E. sceamu, sceomu “feeling of guilt or disgrace,” from P.Gmc. *skamo, probably from PIE *skem-, from *kem- “to cover” (covering oneself being a common expression of shame). An O.N. word for it was kinnroði, lit. “cheek-resness” hence “blush of shame”.

This week Bigot of the Week is very special then in that a whole lot of people should be hanging their heads in shame, namely 53% of the population of Maine.

For those who’ve been hiding under a rock there was a “democratic” vote this week in the “Great” State of Maine on whether they should continue to allow equal marriage (I refuse to type gay marriage…it’s equality of marriage that is the issue). Well typically the right wing christ0fascists did their usual hatemongering and fib telling saying that the nasty gays where a threat to society (as usual) and managed to swing it their way…for now (and by spending Milliosn of $ on tacky adverts)

Now as the excellent Blag Hag has said on her blog (here) this is an abomination, a travesty and distinctly backward. I was planning on visiting New England next year….there’s no way now I’ll set foot in a place that has 53% of it’s population who are nasty bigots (as well as breaking their own commandments eating lobster…don’t you know your Leviticus tut tut).

My Main(e) point is why should votes on minority rights be done in an open vote…this is a distinctly unfair way of doing things (as done in 31 other States in the US)… equality for everyone can’t be done when minorities are descriminated against. In the Netherlands (wonderful liberal secular place that it is) equality votes are made in Parliament using consensus and common sense..not in referendums where advertising is allowed that means whoever can buy the most airtime wins.

I feel so sorry for the other sane 47% of Mainers who have to live with this shame.

So sorry Maine…53% of you anyway ..you are ALL this weeks BIGOT(s) of the Week. You should maybe think of changing the state motto of “dirigo” (I lead) into Rubor (shame).

Shield of Shame for Maine

Hope the Guys on the Vote No on 1 in Maine manage to get things sorted soon.

A right winger comes undone…

2009 November 5

I just love christian morality…all that do this, do that, don’t do that, that’s sin etc. etc. ad infinitum.

You’ll probably all remember the lovely Carrie Prejean..the nasty vile homophobic bigoted bitch-of-a-Miss California who lost the Miss USA contest and blamed it on nasty gays and became a poster girl for the religious right.

Vile Homophobe Carrie Prejean

Vile Homophobe Carrie "loves pre-cum" Prejean

Well she didn’t fulfill her contractual arrangements for the contest organisers, a court case ensued…but unfortuneately it seems poor Miss Pre-cum..sorry Prejean turns out not to be quite the perfect little Christian right wing spokeswhore she made herself out to be… her court case ended very quickly when it turned out that the lawyers for the other side had a nice little DVD of the twisted little minx Miss Prejean indulging in some pre-marriage sexual shenanigans. Not so lily white is she now! Expect to see her again in a couple of years, with big hips, dressed from Walmart with a brood of kids saying the nasty gays ruined her life.

She should understand that when you spout vile epithets to other people..you should first make sure that you are perfectly squeaky clean…people in glass houses and all that. I do love it though when Christianotypes don’t actually turn out to practice what they preach.

I must admit…this made my day !!! More here and here.

UPDATE:- Turns out the video was her screaming for Jebus with one of these between her legs. Those christians do love their symbols !

The wonderful Julie at Attempts at Rational Behavior also posted on this same subject here.

Clarification…

I stated on my blog yesterday that I hated religion and a couple of colleagues at work saw my post and discussed it with me today. I also got a comment on my post from one Zdenny who seems to spend all his time spouting christian claptrap on numerous atheist blogs in an inane condescending manner.

Just to make things clear then after his comment ”Your post reveals your heart which appears to be brimming over with anger.” I replied to this comment with the following “Nope my heart is fine thanks. suffering from a bit of elevated blood pressure but not brimming with anger… if you read what I said was I hated religion..not christians, not muslims…just organised abrahamic religion.

Lastly i don’t hate anyone…uses way too much energy..but what i do despise is the way some humans have twisted a lot of bronze age scribblings into hated of people who are different, to subjugate women and to actively aid , abet and cover up extensive child abuse.”

I hope that clarifies things !

I have friends and colleagues who are religiously afflicted..but do not force that belief of theirs on anyone else, who are kind not condescending and who love and not hate. I may not agree with them..but I approve of the way they show their belief in private without harming or hating anyone else….would that all of their co-religionists were the same.
